BG, Thanks for the reply. I see we're almost neighbors. Fully aware of a shotgun's limits and range. Just need a taller rear sight to bring my shots to center at 50 yds. After some research, considering other open sights that will fit the existing dovetail. All the best, Bill

Does the M1 shotgun rear open rifle sight come in different heights to adjust elevation? I need a taller rear sight and would rather not file the front sight down. Just in case... Does anyone know the size dovetail Benelli uses in case I gotta make one? Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong, looks like the shell rim is impacting on ejection. I'm wondering it the extractor and/or ejector could be tweeked to cause the shell to clear that rail. Hopefully...

I hunt deer in some pretty tight spots with an M1, 18" barrel and iron sights. Distances from close out to 50-75 yards; could take a shot out to 100 yds if I had to. Shoot Federal foster slugs, cheap enough. Best of luck to ya.

Don't know about that. I contacted Shaw a couple years ago and they told me that they made SBE barrels with open sights. Had some sort of problem with the sights, so them quit making them that way. Also said that they made SBE barrels with 1/28" and 1/36" twist rifling.

I bought my SBE slug gun for this exact reason. I'm very pleased with it's accuracy. A Vinci should be the same. Best of luck!

Light firing pin strikes cause me to think that a bolt dis assembly and cleaning is in order. Excess grease or oil in the firing pin might be suspect. I like everything associated with the firing pin to be almost bone dry. Barely a hint of oil on a cleaning patch, then wipe everything down. This is one area that dryer is better. Good luck!

Instead of modding the lifter, I've trained to load with my thumb bent 90 degrees. Thumb knuckle rides along the lifter, push the shell w/tip of thumb. Saves ya from the "pinch". Try it!

Sounds like your M1 has barrel mounted open sights. In order to have Ghost Ring Sights, you'd need to mount a new rear sight on the receiver and purchase a new barrel with the higher mounted front sight. My M1 has the open sights and I prefer them over GRS.

I recently paid a bit under $800 for my HK M1 with 18.5" barrel, 2 shot ext, and open sights. Pistol grip stock. It was barely used, mint condition. Wasn't a bargain, but feel the price was fair.

I'll offer $30 shipped for the two Tru Lock tubes. My M1 came with an IC tube. Your two chokes would go a long way in making my M1 a well rounded player. Thanks for the chance.

Congrats on your M4. I've never regretted buying the best of something, but many times I come to regret trying to save a few bucks. Trying to save a few bucks usually costs more in the long run.

Check the ammo to make sure it slides freely inside the mag tube. Some ammo has a larger diameter head on it than other brands. I have one gun that refuses to load a certain brand of ammo inside the mag.

Didja look to see if it has a plug in the magazine tube?

Nothing wrong with a Standard Poodle. Prolly outwork half the other breeds on the marsh.

Not much of a waterfowler, but I wouldn't start swapping shims based upon a single shot. I'd spend some time at a range first and know exactly where the pattern was first. It doesn't take too much of a jerked trigger to miss a target at that distance. Best of luck!

My first thoughts whenever a cold weather mis-fire occurs is to break down the gun and give the firing pin, spring, and bolt a good cleaning. Oil left in the firing pin channel will eventually evaporate to a grease like consistency. Add in cold temps and it's not hard to imagine the firing pin moving very sluggishly, if at all, at the hammer strike. My guns are well oiled, but their firing pins are just about bone dry. A slight wipe with a small patch that has maybe two drops of oil is all that area receives. Best of luck!
