No, you are wrong. It does put yourself at risk for prosecution if you're caught. The consequences are written within the law, they are not implied or insinuated. They are written in the statute. It's not hype to be afraid of felony prosecution.
There is risk if you don't comply. Don't pretend that there isn't.
If you think that there's not a snowball's chance of you ever getting caught then, go ahead, it's your ass on the line.
But don't expect that everyone should agree with you.
My take on your attitude is that you don't like the law, you think it's absurd to have to replace perfectly good parts, and therefore, you don't want to follow it for those reasons.
Also, it's plain to see from your posts, that it angers you to read that a whole lot of people are afraid of being caught, and for that reason alone, they will comply. You choose to rail about people who are following the law and warn others, either from fear or maybe just because it's the law.
You got pissed off because you didn't get the answers from people that you wanted to see. Finally, when someone explains it to you like you're a 3-year old who wants to know why they can't have another piece of candy, THEN you're Ok.
