  1. I'd throw US made parts in it just to be on the safe side. Once carriercomp's hammer is released, there will be sufficient production parts to circumvent 922 restrictions when using a collapsible stock. 1. Full length titanium magazine tube (carriercomp offers a short one for you 14") 2. carriercomp magazine tube follower 3. Forearm assembly, either Freedom Fighter's or the Surefire M80 4. carriercomp's US made hammer Overall, you'll have a better, lighter weapon. While you're at it, add carriercomp's top rail and bolt handle. Throw in a GG&G bolt release. Maybe a set of night sights. Consider a weapon light to the package.
  2. If you want the short LOP for irons, get the Urbino. If you plan to use an optic, either will work fine, but I prefer the look, style and function of the factory collapsible stock. In the middle of collapsed position, you will not be able to use the iron sights very comfortably due to the change in riser height as the stock moves along the recoil tube.
  3. Just in time for the apocalypse. How lucky!
  4. So, that's how you convinced your wife to let you buy a bunch of ammo? Harold Camping is a pretty smart guy. He's raked in about 50 - 60 million bucks over the past few years as a doomsday profit. I always wondered what time zone god worked under, since it is the 21st in parts of the world.
  5. That falls along the same lines as a divorcee woman who seized a fancy sports car but can't drive it. If she shoots the M4, then I'd say that's a big thumbs up. Reminds me of that Married With Children episode where Al's dentist is getting raped by his ex wife on the phone right before he starts working on Al. She wanted some collectors item thing he owned because she knew it would hurt him more than the momentary value of it. Frankly, I'm surprised more divorces don't end up like the Santa Claus killer from a few years ago in californiastan. As Chris Rock put it, "I don't agree with what you did... but I understand."
  6. She didn't want a cash settlement rather than the shotgun? Fortunately for you, the M4 is a common weapon. It hurts more if the weapon is a one of a kind or difficult to find item. Consider it an opportunity to build a new one up knowing what you know now.
  7. Here are better photos of the Mesa Tactical sling mount. I actually made one of these for a fixed pistol grip stock for another M4. I used a Magpul threaded QD sling cup, then went to Home Depot and got a properly threaded bolt and washer. Drilled through the pistol grip stock, careful to avoid the recoil tube. Works perfectly.
  8. Nice couch! Reminds me of the one from Peewee's Playhouse. The coating looks good. I like that you had the top rail painted as well.
  9. That one isn't mine, but I have the DMW oversized safety as well. It comes apart rather easy. Take a look at this schematic. You need to tap out pin #22. Once you do that and remove your roll punch, parts #24 and #25 will come out. Once those parts are out, the safety will just pull out. The trouble is, when you tap out the roll pin, you can easily damage the spring. I ended up kinking about 1/16" of the spring. However, this actually worked out in my favor since I always thought the safety was too difficult to push. Trimming it a bit makes it a lot easier to push, but not in a dangerous manner. To do it without causing any damage to the spring would require a tool that presses in around the sides of the roll pin through the top. When reassembling, you have to compress the spring and detent to allow you to tap the roll pin back into place. This can damage the spring if you don't do it properly. Once done, you'll be amazed at how much easier it is to manipulate the safety. You can deactivate the safety with the trigger finger at the second knuckle without breaking your firing grip.
  10. In for a hammer the second I notice it is released.
  11. Awesome. Capacity?
  12. Unscrew the windage knob. Note the placement of the spring upon disassembly. Reassemble in reverse order. Index the sights based off the marks.
  13. When you say full FCG, do you mean a complete trigger pack along with the shell elevator and trigger guard assembly? Or, just internals?
  14. Good to hear a time frame.
  15. If you're bruising, you're doing something wrong. Either the LOP is wrong for you, or you're not holding in the proper location. Or, you might want to check your background, since you might be related to the thought to be extinct Russian Czars. Back when my M4 was new, and ammo was cheap, I was feeding it about 300 - 400 rounds per session.
  16. I'd be nervous if they are some guys personal reloads. I'd take them back if possible. The 55gn should be fine. Your barrel twist rate will determine what matches.
  17. Approximately 13,000 through my M4. Much of the weapon was replaced by Benelli though at the 10,000 round mark. Barrel, BCG, Handguards to address the crappy 4 port barreled models. The receiver extension was replaced at about 13,000. It looked brand new, but I wanted a functional collapsible stock. Probably 10,000 rounds of birdshot, 2000 rounds of buckshot and a 1000 rounds of slugs. I'm sitting on about 6000 rounds now. I no longer purchase low base birdshot. It's just not any fun to shoot. I now buy high brass #4 birdshot for target loads.
  18. Must have been a reason that I bought and stored a 100 bricks of 550 rounds of federal 22lr. Oh yes, I have a 22lr conversion kit for my Ar15 MRP -- Dual role rifle. Fwiw, 50k+ rounds of 22lr weighs about 600 pounds.
  19. The guntrustlawyers are good guys. It's worth the 600$. Surely, you won't just build a short barreled Benelli. You'll add to the collection of fun toys. Suppressors, Short barreled shotguns and short barreled rifles are easily affordable afterwards. Multiple individuals can be added to the trust. Plus the path to transferring your assets to other family or friends in the event of your death are important aspects to consider. Avoiding the need for a CLEO is very helpful when yours is a douche. Your paperwork will also be processed a little faster since finger printing won't have to be processed.
  20. Yes it will.
  21. It can be done, but you risk socking yourself in the face during recoil. Trying to aim through the Aimpoint would be pretty tough. If you were to shoot in this manner, you'd be best just point shooting. M4Madness, you have an awesome setup there. Death from afar with the benefit of being quiet -- At least masking the source of fire. The only way to improve upon that package is to go NightVision or better yet, FLIR. I work with FLIR quite a bit at work. It owns all for threat detection. It isn't very good for threat identification though. I find its range to be superior to the night vision. Even if the vehicle or person is just a pixel moving, it stands out contrasted against the background. Enemy lights or natural light sources do not effect the field of view either. Night vision generally blooms out or causes the optic to auto-gate and close the aperture. With FLIR, you get to dump all the weapon light crap too. Prices continue to plummet. Quality continues to climb. Your rifle + FLIR would = Ownership of one of my BOL's. http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/18104589.jpg Power lines are 3.5 miles away. Interstate is 5 miles. The only approach is up a long beat to crap dirt road up the shown valley. About a 1000 feet of vertical elevation gain over the power line area.

    M4 Mods

Painting the truck in color matched Line-X was much cheaper than paint matching the fiberglass fenders/bedside. 2000$ vs. 4500$. Plus, it's functional. I mow down bushes its grass. An OD version of the truck back east would look cool. I usually buy my Surefire stuff on ebay. The trick is to buy ones that show the item in the original package. Counterfeits don't bother to make the packaging. I bought my last Scout for 333$ shipped last month. The mount was separate. I bought that directly from GearSector. The front sling mount is a GearSector QD mount. The rear one is from Mesa Tactical.

    14" m4

You'd be happiest with a complete second weapon. Your spouse and wallet won't be too thrilled. Accessories x 2. Converting back and forth blows. The SBS will still have the legal stigma of being a SBS regardless of what barrel is installed. So doing things like going out of State.

    14" m4

A grand is the going rate for any length M4 barrel unfortunately.
