  1. I thought mine were nice deer. Then my buddy called me this evening and said he needed a hand cleaning one he'd just shot in his goat pasture.
  2. The extension can also be used in some states for Spring Snows and in the Fall for resident honkers. As mentioned, porting will get you kicked out of a blind.
  3. Thanks for the information. I tried a standard base on mine when I had it and it ran out of elevation adjustment just shy of zero. It's good to know that they're not all like that.
  4. This is Benelli USA. You need Benelli Turkey. Best of luck to you.
  5. Welcome to the ADD forums. Yes, you may keep your Super Sport. I like turtles.
  6. Thanks Mike. Yeah, that's the smokeless Savage. The contract with the designer is up at Savage and there are no plans to continue production after current orders are filled. It's a shame, because it truly is the best mass-produced muzzleloader out there. They just don't have Greg Ritz shooting fenced in deer on tv to promote it. This one is mine forever!
  7. I hammered this guy this morning at ten yards, hunting from the ground in the oaks. Watched him eat acorns for five minutes before dropping him. I went back out this afternoon in hopes of filling a doe tag, but instead had a black bear, maybe 350-400 lbs. slip through a thicket at about 35 yards. I couldn't get a good shot one him, so I passed him up. That would have been nice! The Savage has been flawless this year! And the heavy mast crop hasn't hurt either.

Sounds like someone just did. Have you checked to see if any dirt or debris got in there?
  9. Optics would be necessary for accurately shooting slugs, and helpful for turkey hunting. However each would require their own zero. A nice red dot would cover both, but again, the zero would have to be corrected for whichever type of hunting you will be doing. I would remove the base for wing shooting. I wouldn't trust a mount to return to zero after removing the base and then reinstalling it. It will be close, but I'd still want to check it at the range. Quick release rings would help.
  10. Never seen it done, but a bandsaw and some body filler should make it happen.
  11. Very nice, sir! Looks like he may be headed to the taxidermist. I thought about getting mine mounted, but I've taken bigger ones and not done them either.
  12. 100 feet or 100 yards, you should still use rifle sights or a scope for slugs.
  13. Thanks, man. It's been a good year. I've got one more buck tag, and then I'll have to shoot some slicks. But duck season is back in this Saturday, so I'm about done with the deer anyway.
  14. Muzzleloaders. We went back out this morning and I got this little 6 pointer. He was about 100 yards from where my buddy got his on Saturday. He also saw two more bucks chasing does about a 1/2 mile from me, but he couldn't get a shot. This one didn't even twitch when the 250 XTP drilled his neck and cut through his vitals. Dropped in his tracks.
  15. That's the rack from the one my buddy got last Saturday..... from my favorite stand. It was a slightly smaller nine point.
  16. I got this one about 10 minutes after I got to the stand. Called my buddy up and told him that I got one. Needed help, but no hurry. Take your time and hunt. He said he'd just rattled up a nice buck, but the deer saw him before he saw the deer and he slipped away. 30 minutes later, he called me and said that he managed to move around in front of the buck and rattled him in again. This time, he didn't get away.
  17. There's a great deal you've never seen.
  18. Must be a Primos thing. I lost a Dead Zone waterfowl tube in a similar manner a couple of years ago.
  19. He's being him. His were at 100 yards, like this one.
  20. For clarity Vice Vise And don't squeeze it too hard, whether it's a hooker or a receiver.
  21. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=570/schematicsdetail/Super_Black_Eagle Remove the recoil pad. Insert a 13mm(?) deepwell socket on a 4" extension and remove the retaining nut (73). Slide the stock off, making note of how the shim (91) and locking plate (27) are arranged. Remove the stud (74) from the end of the tube (65) by turning the nut with an adjustable wrench. Some heat may need to be applied to loosen the loctite. Remove the spring (97) and the recoil tube assembly. Replace with Surecycle or Brownells.
  22. Ducks - #4 Black Cloud/Black Cloud Mid-range Choke Geese - BB Black Cloud/Black Cloud Mid-range Choke If you're going to be hunting where there's a good chance of shooting both ducks and geese, the #2 shot is a great choice.
  23. I had an R1 that cracked the stock the first time I hunted with it. I contacted CS and we agreed that I would hunt with it and send it in after the season was out. Did so and it worked out great. I have contacted them several times since for some minor parts for myself and couple of friends. The response has always been great.
  24. I thought I responded to TMAC yesterday, but my post appears to be gone now. I'll try once more. I originally actually tried to help nightforce by pointing out that not only was he referencing the wrong information in his rant against government regulations, but that if he'd actually done the proper research up front, that he would have been aware of the applicable laws regarding his shipment. He responded in his usual maniacal manner and failed to see the benefit of my helpful posts, so I went back through and deleted them. At any rate, as stated above, I am done with the fool. He can argue with himself all day long.
