  1. I just blasted my tube with it and shook it around and let it drain and and accepted that it was gonna splatter and leak for a bit. I gun-scrubbered it out first though, wanted to get all the packing grease out first.
  2. Use a heavier load. Putting a heavier spring in that weapon will just make things worse. If anything, put a reduced spring in it for firing weak loads. I would leave it alone and modify your ammunition choice.
  3. What does your ejection pattern look like when you shoot the pheasant rounds and it DOES eject? (Distance/O'clock angle from the port)?
  4. When I got my M4 I was too stoked to take her completely apart. I just took the handguards off, verified the piston caps were tight and the pistons moved freely, made sure the choke was tight, and then hosed the BCG with a tad of breakfree and went
  5. +1 Nothing tube-like about it except the shaft EOTech is giving it's customers by not recognizing/fixing the design flaw that causes the battery-drain issue some experience.
  6. Hrmmm, I sighted the weapon as per Benelli specs. They have a very unique way of doing it. The top of the FSP is level with the MIDDLE of the dots on the rear aperature, and the FSP is horizontally bisecting the target.
  7. and all this time I thought that was what this was
  8. Yep, no way no how. Just get a QD mount and if it goes TU, take it off and go irons.
  9. What slugs were you using? Use used the stock choke right? How many notches are cut on the end of it?
  10. There is a time and a place for everything. Hunting deer with your buddies, time for the safety. Taking your kid shooting, time for the safety. However, going into combat, a dedicated carry/self defence weapon that doesn't have an exposed hammer or one that has a means to stop the hammer from striking the firing pin if it does, time to excercise finger-control. YMMV
  11. +1, I am an idealist "do it all" person though. No logic to my madness, just a college student's budget and trying to make up for selling my AR.
  12. No, it just means "for best accuracy". You could still shoot them through a full-choke, but I see no point in it. It should be safe though.
  13. I stand corrected by WInchester***SEE EDIT***. I have heard C/Mod/IC for slugs all time time, with IC getting the nod. Question: What slug design should I be using in my shotgun? Answer: Winchester Ammunition offers two slug designs, the sabot slug or the rifled slug. Sabot slugs are designed to be used in rifled barrels or in smooth barrels with a rifled choke tube. Rifled slugs are designed to be used in smooth barrels. We have found the best accuracy when using rifled slugs in a cylinder or modified choke. ETA: I think this is a typo on Winchester's part. "Cylinder or modified" is like saying. "A .22 or a .270 is best to shoot squirrels". It makes no sense. Rather I think they meant Cyl or IC. As it is logically the next step instead of skipping a full .01" in constriction. Am I explaining my thought process well enough? Well, I will indeed go with the IC choke, I want good performance with slugs. I DID replace my AR with this M4 (No need for 600 yard capability where I live). and I doubt OO buck will spread very much in my humble appartment.
  14. Not with normal slugs, go to the store and pick up some "remington Slugger" slugs. Look on the side of the box near the trajectory chart (to the left of it, to be technical). It will tell you "Can be fired through any choke, but best results with IC". The slug is some seriously soft lead, the steel shot is very hard. I would like to see a stress-guage reading though comparing the two. Could be interesting.
  15. Yep, my rear handguard ring is rock-solid as it is pinned down by the tube. I did, however, use locktite though. I want my mag-tube to stay there, and if it ever REALLY needs to come off, well, I got the other one off didn't I
  16. Yep, here in a week or 2, they will be getting a call from me. Larue is only half a state away, should have it within 2 days of order.
  17. Do you know how the Glock Safe-action pistol works? Your comments lead me to belive that you are unfamiliar with it. Handle one sometime. Try to get it to go bang without pressing the center tab on the trigger. Go on. Try it.
  18. If you have any Glocks, Sigs, or revolvers, I will buy them from you at a greatly reduced price. They are obviously unsafe Seriously though, safety off, tube full, shell on the lifter, hammer down. That is how my M4 is stored.
  19. Awesome! Props on joining the club. I have been VERY happy with my M4. You will enjoy yours no doubt.
  20. I am personally going to be running an IC Trulock flush mount choke. The reason for this is that out to 25-35 yards, OO buck will pattern well with this choke, and beyond that I will use slugs. The IC choke is arguably the best for slugs as while like Duggan said, Full won't hurt the barrel/choke, it WILL screw a slug up and hurt accuracy past 30 yards or so. With todays slugs, 10" groups at 100 yards from an M4 is very do-able from what I understand (I have kept them all on a pie-plate area at 50 yards off-hand). When I go with my mini-dot setup I plan on making the most of the weapon platform. 0-100 yards I want to be 100% effective. Will be keeping 4 slugs on the buttstock in a Mesa Tactical shell holder and the tube full of OO buck. The way the benelli action works, I can slip a slug in any time I need the extended range.
  21. I too would like to know. For my optic I am going with a Larue throw-lever low-pro mount and a Pride/Fowler mini-dot sight. Allows change of the battery without removing the optic from the mount, on/off as well as automatic brightness, and the Larue throw-lever will allow QD and re-attatchment with a high level of precision.
  22. I called Larue and then the Pride/Fowler company. Cody @ Larue was polite, and spoke confidently of the Larue mount. I have not heard ANYTHING bad about Larue in 5 years on AR15.com. That is impressive in and of itself. I e-mailed the Pride Fowler company asking about recoil and battery life capabilities of their sight. I have not yet checked my inbox. If Larue sells it though, I bet its g2g.
  23. I think I found my optic http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=68 http://www.rapidreticle.com/sopscauto.htm I like this because: It is QD via a lever and I can revert to irons IMMEDIATELY for whatever reason. I do not have to remove the sight from the base to replace the battery. (Thus my zero is maintained) It is under $500 : ) It has an on/off so I do not have to rely on automatic brightness, although it features it as well.
  24. When I can fire the weapon and have it jam on demand vs. firing the weapon and being UNABLE to jam it, I call that a problem with the stock spring. Thus I replaced it with another "stock" spring, albeit from another model. Maybe Benelli should have standardized the springs for their 7-shot tubes. WOuld have made more sense than introducing another part # to the catalogue.
  25. I went with the stock Benelli M1 S90 spring b/c I am a sucker for OEM stuff and have NEVER heard of an M1 S90 having issues.
