NICE The only things I would be really worried about because you put so many rounds through are the springs, ie magazine, recoil, inertia. However, if it feeds and ejects reliably then keep on shooting!

Its probably the .22, if you could upgrade the rifle to a .308 or a .300 win mag you could probably convince some of the tacticool guys it was a training exercise and then it would be a party...

I don't know that you are doing anything wrong as my M2 does the same thing if I pull the bolt back let it go forward slightly so the carrier pops up and then pull it back again. I think its a little quirk with how the carrier assembly interfaces with the bolt notches. (I posted some about that interaction here: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20660&page=4 if you are interested) However, the one thing I would do instead of putting your finger in the way of the bolt is to tap forward on the bolt handle with the heel of your hand. That makes mine close when it gets into that position without endangering my appendages. I find that you can also pull the bolt handle all the way to the rear and let go and that also clears the problem. Its really an academic problem as it has never failed in that way while shooting.

Its really nice, it was actually my first shotgun. It was a little neglected when I got it but it runs like a champ now. It is a gas gun so the weight is more forward and it has more parts than my M2. But the only "bad" thing about it is that it only has a fixed MOD barrel, and the bolt release is on the opposite side of the ejection port (think AR bolt release).

The simple answer is it doesn't work for doubles. In my experience it doesn't work with singles all that well either. Now that may be because I don't have it adjusted properly, but I put one on my Smith and Wesson auto and it will throw hulls right through the catcher...

If you like above the bead shooting, do nothing you bought a great gun. If you currently shoot bead-on-target you still bought a great gun but you have 2 real options: 1. Learn to love/shoot above the bead. 2. Bring the POI down through shimming the stock AND/OR jacking the front sight up by using a larger bead or a pistol/rifle front sight to counter the rib slope.

Pros: It makes you shoot above the bead for wingshooting if you like that style of shooting. Cons: It makes you shoot above the bead if you like shooting bead-on-target.

Did you get a new spring when you got that extension tube? If you just put the stock spring back in to a longer tube that could be your problem. It looks to me like the mag spring just doesnt have enough power to throw the shell onto the carrier before the carrier tries to go up again, you might look into getting a new mag spring.

Well kittens this is a classic case of risk management. Some people want to protect themselves against any conceivable scenario ie multiple attackers, breakdown of society etc. All things that could happen but aren't likely. For me I compromise, I have my regular 28" M2 with a 7 shot capacity and a few dozen rounds of buckshot/slugs. I have a plan for defending my house that does not involve house hunting but rather camping out and letting them come to me. SOOO if a gang of robbers is determined enough to come armed well enough or in enough numbers that they could get to me through a choke-point while I'm spraying them with ~50 rounds of buckshot/slugs, well they are in it to win it and I don't mind admitting that I was bested in that scenario. Now the probability of that scenario actually happening is somewhere very close to 0, so I'm not going to lose sleep over that possibility.

I don't know much about UK laws but you might want to check to see if it is legal to have a full length (or just longer) tube on the gun before you go through the trouble of taking yours off.

Works just fine for me with clays and hunting. If you found a good deal I can't think of a reason not to go for it.

NEED is a big word, yes you could just pull the trigger if you really really wanted to store your gun with the hammer down. Like I said I think they are great for becoming familiar with the workings of a new gun, or for making sure the gun still works like you think it should after you make a big change without having to use live ammo right away. +1

I understand that completely, and AR manuals will tell you to use a bullet to push out takedown pins... If you want to follow the manual EXACTLY that is your prerogative, nothing wrong with it. But unless you are riding into combat with this M4 having a proper tool for removing pins rather than using a critical part designed to punch primers probably is not going to slow you down any. I was just throwing out alternatives.

As much as the manual says to use the firing pin I would do no such thing myself, now that you have that pin out I would take it to a hardware store and pick out a pin punch that is very close to the same diameter and use that when disassembling your gun.

I don't know I have a thing for the jet black synthetic If that's not for you then you can either duracoat or spraypaint, relatively cheap and both come in a can.

Do you have the labeled part descriptions to the bolt group and the whole thing, it looks like the table only applies to the trigger group picture.

What gun you should get depends heavily on what you want to use it for. Since you mention hunting the real question is do you use/plan to use 3.5" shells? If you do then you should upgrade to an SBEII, if not then the M2 will do you just fine. I like the comfortech system, I don't know that it lives up to the marketing hype but I do think it cuts down on recoil a bit. If recoil doesn't particularly bother you or you are planning on shooting lighter shells you should seriously consider the american as I think the only difference is the comfortech system. As for chokes the M2 takes the Crio plus series, so I don't think it is compatible with Beretta chokes, at least not the older variety with the threads at the top of the tube.

This part probably has a lot to do with it, now I'm a fan of the comfortech thing but Benelli marketing would have you believe that it is much better than it is. So sometimes you'll see people being disillusioned on here because they were expecting too much.

You would probably want to compare the real-life M2 tactical to the M4 (which has been done several times on this forum) as it seems doubtful that the vinci will have a tactical version...at least not for a while.

In the manual there should be a drop change schedule that tells how how much the drop is with each shim. I dont have a vinci or the vinci manual but I'm assuming its pretty similar to the M2 change and I'm pretty sure that it goes alphabetically. Meaning A has the least and Z has the most drop. So I would put in a C and see if it fits/shoots the way you want and move further if it doesnt.

Active moderation? Are we on the same benelli forum? Haha, I can count on my one hand the number of times (outside of spam crap) that the moderators have had to step in. Thats the good news, I think this forum somehow self-moderates most of the time...the benellis have a mellowing effect...

Being a brand new gun and having that type of problem it sounds more like a parts problem. I would say you should call benelli CS and see what they say, they might send you new parts under warranty.
