  1. That page states that the Benelli M series was derived from the HK 512 (which was actually made in very limited numbers by Franchi). I'm relatively certain that's completely incorrect. The Benelli SL 80 series immediately proceeded the Super 90 M1 series, and the major distinction in the action between the two was the modification to the bolt carrier group where the bolt rotated on the Super 90. http://www.benelli.it/Azienda/Index.asp?ID=34 Benelli's very first autoloader, looks familiar, huh? http://www.benelli.it/Azienda/Index.asp?ID=30
  2. You are correct sir. The recoil link pin is the hardest working part on the entire weapon, taking all the abuse. Neglect it at your own peril (which is why I so strongly recommend keeping it 'wet' with lube at all times).
  3. QFT IMO it is absolutely essential that you keep your M4 well lubed with a high quality lubricant (except for the pistons of course) paying particular attention to the recoil link pin at the rear of the bolt carrier and all other wear surfaces both inside and outside the bolt carrier group as well as the pins in the fire control. It is also my opinion that one cannot get the recoil link pin and BCG 'too wet' with lubricant. I like to check mine before each shooting session.
  4. There's currently one listed on feebay for substantially less than that.
  5. I'm thinking by posting that video he provided evidence as to the felony he committed. lol What a knucklehead.
  6. Some desire a shorter LOP. And some like the cheek riser.
  7. Front sight won't count as one of the Made in USA parts. Carriercomp has a deal currently with the Ti FL mag tubes, free Made in USA follower with order for mag tube - so there are two parts right there.
  8. If you raise the capacity of your M4 over 5 rounds in the magazine you will need to add the appropriate number of 'Made in the USA' parts in order to be in compliance with 922® because it would then be a 'high capacity' magazine on an imported shotgun (I know that doesn't matter to some folks, but it's still a major consideration). The imported Benelli mag extension right now sells for the same price range as a full length Made in the USA titanium magazine tube, which counts toward meeting 922® compliance. Made in the USA steel full length mag tubes are less, with the one from Dave's Metal Works being less than 50% of the cost of an imported Benelli mag tube extension. So what's the point of trying to keep your shotgun 'all Benelli' with an imported Benelli mag tube extension if it puts you into the red zone with the Feds? In order to be 922® compliant with a high capacity magazine on a M4 with pistol grip you need at least three 'Made in the USA' parts. If you use a Made in the USA Ti or steel full length tube, then your other options for two more 'Made in the USA' parts on a fixed stock with pistol grip shotgun are: Magazine follower (various vendors) Handguards (various vendors) Urbino buttstock by Mesa Tactical Hammer available thru Carriercomp From what I gather, if you went to the Benelli field buttstock (no pistol grip) then you would only need one additional Made in the USA parts to have 922® compliance with a high capacity magazine M4 if a Made in the USA FL tube is used and only two Made in the USA parts if the imported Benelli mag tube extension is used.

    Top Shot

I saw the promo again last nite for tomorrow nite's episode of Top Shot - the TS guy clearly said "Benelli Super 90 M4". And I was wrong about the FL tube, it does have the factory capacity limiter on the mag tube - it's definitely a M4.
  10. Interesting. Who's going to be the guinea pig?
  11. Because of the price I'm guessing it's Hecho en Chino. The Legacy Sports International website doesn't even list it as something they offer, but they do have a sporting semi-auto shotgun that looks close to the one in the OP. In either description there's nothing about whether it's a gas gun or an inertia gun. I bet it's an inertia gun.
  12. Yeah, that's the thing - I wouldn't trust ANY shotgun as a stand alone gun. A Glock or Govt. Model backs up my Benelli. Naturally I trust a Benelli or a FN SLP above a Remy or a Mossy. JMO-DYODD

It was clearly a M4 with a FL magazine tube in the promo I saw.
  14. Kindly update this thread when you've figured out the problem and what it took to resolve it. TIA
  15. A much better value for a weapon light than the x300 at $95, over 220 lumens and built for extreme duty, has P60 body so it should take the (hi-$) Surefire pressure switch (which costs more than the flashlight in this case). http://www.peakledsolutions.net/Products/Night_Patrol_HA.html
  16. That sounds about right, the price is in line with what we could expect from Benelli for such an item.
  17. I think all lasers can be seen in the air with NV. I know that red can, have never seen an IR laser with NV so I don't know about that. In a completely dark room a 5mW red laser will light up the entire room when using Gen2 NV as if you turned on a mini maglight.
  18. That's what the Brownell's catalog indicates, but they show no image. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=23699/Product/ACCESSORY_MOUNTING_RAIL
  19. I think I found my laser but it's blue (no beam traceback). http://www.aixiz.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/26/products_id/177/osCsid/795f1f2c016cda5f6ae6dd00327e05ee
  20. Can anyone think of any disadvantages to not replacing that magazine spring seal ring over the mag spring (other than launching the magazine cap)? I got my m4 from someone who'd put one of those cheesy aftermarket mag extensions on it and in the process they had discarded the magazine spring seal ring.
  21. I should add that there's NO reason anyone should be without a RELIABLE long arm for personal protection - NONE. A Mosin-Nagant can typically be had for $150 or less. Along with couple of hundred for ammo and you're good to go. Not having enough money to buy a high ticket item like a Benelli is no excuse to be without. Just make sure you do your due diligence and buy a good quality Mosin-Nagant and not a sloppy one.
  22. If you have a failure on any semi-auto it would be due to poor maintenance (cleaning and lubrication) and/or questionable ammo. Fail to keep a pump shotgun maintained and you can expect the exact same sort of failures as you'd find in a semi-auto. Failure of one's combat shotgun is why one carries a high quality sidearm of sufficient caliber with the appropriate ammo for the task, however to preclude that need keep your shotgun clean and well lubricated as necessary. If you're ultimately concerned about reliability above all else, get an AK or a FAL (excluding ANYTHING from Century Arms Int'l or Hesse of course).
  23. IMO, once one has ironed the kinks out of a Saiga 12 they're likely the most robust and reliable semi-auto shotgun out there, however because of having a detachable magazine it will never be a suitable tactical shotgun, it will always be a novelty/toy. The only role I see for a Saiga as a defensive tool is as something to use in a fixed position or for ambush purposes, and in both cases having support. I don't see it ever being used for shoot and scoot, and reloading on the fly as necessary. Also, a detachable magazine does not lend itself to the immediate changing up types of ammo, another big negative with respect to shotgun tactics.
