  1. Use a standard ruler and measure from the mid portion of the bolt or open breech to the mid portion of the RMR roll cage. Done. It's not even necessary; as mentioned use 10-15 yards fire a couple of slugs and start turning the elevation dial to get within an 1" or so; then repeat at range you desire your zero.
  2. I have purchased a bunch of stuff from H&KP2000 over the years; buy with confidence. Just not a fan of 2-point slings on shotguns. Here's my QD single point setup on a 14" Entry.
  3. ..........and a few more. The Sig P220 was imported to Sig's first stateside location, Tysons Corner; it not longer exists.
  4. I'll play. Not a Sig fanboy however somehow I have ended up with a bunch of them, maybe my Navy use of them after the Beretta 92 and 1911's. Only have one 320 I run in a Safariland drop leg rig; ~ 6K rounds thru this one. Started life as a VTAC flat 7 lb trigger and too big grip modules, purchased all of them, ended up with a Wilson Combat. Use Safariland holsters for all of them.
  5. This 14" Wilson Combat Scattergun Technologies has a 8 MOA RMR that is more than adequate at expected range of engagements for a SBS. The factory barrel has been customized by Vang Comp to extend the forcing cone and porting. The M4 14" Entry is just as good with a 2 MOA Aimpoint, a bit quicker shot-shot due to ARGO auto system. IF I need a 100M slug shot with these boys, I picked up the wrong tool for the task. Just sayin'. Love the Asgaard Defense forward shell holders auto or pump.
  6. Yeah, this thread has been moribund for 7+ years. Yikes.
  7. ^^^ The dot size one views in the optic of various mfg.'s does not necessarily reflect the MOA representation, i.e. a 3.5 MOA dot viewed is not 1/2 the visual size of a 7 MOA dot/ triangle viewed.....thru the optic. The "red / orange / green dot-triangle " that is viewed is merely a representation of a 3.5" v. 7" impact probability at 100 yards. IF you take a 3.5 MOA optic and a 7 MOA optic and view a 6" plate at 100 yards, the 7 MOA dot will not obscure the view of the 6" plate; you would however be able to more accurately place your shot on the 6" plate with a 3.5 MOA viewed dot if the firearm was capable of that accuracy.
  8. SD- I fabricated a couple of simple tools that make installation / removal of the threaded plug a controlled situation for me. After removal of the retaining clip I use a twin lug screw driver fitted to the plug mortises. For installation I use a cut away hollow punch to compress the spring into position, capture it with a slave pin / punch, allowing plenty of room to get the threaded plug into position. Agree about removing the spring, as it will be trash from the heat.
  9. The inspection to identify the OP's concerns in this situation is usually not part of a routine pre-purchase over the counter inspection. Interested in seeing the factory resolution to this customer service inquiry. I could however understand Benelli's position that an internal machining blemish that does not influence function , is not a mechanical "defect" therefore may not require replacement v. OP's concern observing this as a manufacturing "defect". Standing by.
  10. ^^Thanks.
  11. Seeking information for another forum inquiry.......any one have line on a FDE pistol grip for the M4 ? I don't remember seeing one.
  12. Typically the MOA "dot size" is similar in presentation size thru the optic lens to the operator in most optics. What is different between devices is what that dot size represents at various distances. For a shotgun a 2.5 MOA represents 0.625" @ 25 yards impact variation; an 8 MOA dot represents 2" impact variation. A 12 gauge slug is ~0..72" so a 2.5 MOA most closely represents the slug size impact at 25 yards. Double those MOA numbers for 50 yards, 1.25" v. 4" impact variation; 4X those numbers @ 100 yards. Finally, most red dot optics project the "red light" from behind the lens at an angle to the center of the rear surface of the optic lens which itself is usually angled rearward; any debris that accumulates in the area of the "projector" red light source will create blurred / distorted red dot images as the light is diffracted passing thru the trash en route to the lens, particularly with a pistol mounted optic; check / clean that area with alcohol and a Q-tip before declaring astigmatism issues.
  13. Custom build WC 6.8 SPC2 S&B newest badboy 1-8X dual MDR-T6 reticle CC...the great silver heron was never in harms way in these photos.
  14. I was thinking that "Black Guns" was generic for any Armalite Rifle (AR) pattern clone .......independent of cerakote check box. Dilly-dilly.
  15. Primary Weapons System 9.7" Mk109 .300 BO S&B 1.1x4 Short Dot I fear some day my wife will try to sell some of these for what I told her I paid for them.
  16. .........more stuff 5.56 / 6.8 SPC II / 7.62/ masterkey setup .....yadah yadah.
  17. I'll keep it short with a few examples. Almost all AR platforms I used the Law Tactical folding stock adapter which facilitates small pack fittings.

    Some R&D

Modify your firearm in good faith. Screw the fine print on 922R as I have yet to see a real incident report of a common citizen being legally cited for an infraction of said regulation.....standing by to review of any legally prosecuted instant cases. IF however you live under a rock and are found to be in possession of cocaine in weight exceeding your shot shell magazine capacity and a firearm that has had its serial number defaced with a hard piece of crack, some zealous prosecutor will use said infraction to pursue such scumbags for a 3-strikes-and-they're-out case over the top and put them away. Just sayin'.

    Some R&D

I agree with SD; years ago I fabricated a hand tool that would compress the spring while securing the piston with protecting vise jaw inserts. A simple 3/8" diameter Delrin rod relieved to fit about the retaining pin compressed in a vise allows the retaining pin to be simply removed with a punch tool as all the spring tension has been withdrawn from the pin.
  20. Do you have photos of the uncontrolled explosion results ?
  21. The Remington 870 staking punch should work just fine.
  22. ^^Got it. Thanks.
  23. SD - What tool do you speak of ?
  24. I'm late to the party on this thread but I like to use Wiha German brand small snap ring pliers, external / internal variants. I have also fashioned a variety of tips to fit in the snap ring pliers that have a set screw to change the tips; the more you tinker with firearms the more often the occasion to have just the right pair of tips to make the expletives trend to zero; that's a happy space. Buy USA whenever possible but not always a good offering available.
  25. ^^I have never asked the factory parts guys if there is a part # to purchase.
