  1. What do you mean by "bolt spring"? There's a recoil spring that protrudes back into the butt stock and there's an inertia spring that's an internal part of the bolt assembly. Regardless, the best check of whether either of them are still "good enough" is to shoot the gun. If the gun works like it's supposed to when you shoot it, then the springs are good enough. Another way to check the recoil spring is to lock the bolt assembly back then hit the release button. If it goes forward all the way and the locking head rotates and locks into place the recoil spring is probably good to go. Then go shoot it to verify.
  2. Sukhoi, not to get further in an argument but Tom-Gun originally posted McCain's video indicating that he would post his own video when he got better. He (T-G) wasn't saying he was in that video. Unless given further evidence, I take him at his word that he's not Paul. And, unfortunately, he's right in that McCain is somewhat popular on YT among those that haven't been subjected to his nonsense here.
  3. Uh-oh:( We've been here before. Mr. McCain is persona-non-grata here.
  4. Fit? Yes. Function properly? Probably. The M1 trigger guard/stock interface is different from the M2. The M1 has that protrusion from the trigger guard into the stock which the M2 doesn't have. Putting the M2 trigger guard into the M1 will leave that half-moon area open. I imagine that you would raise quite a blister on the inside of your middle finger if you shot it much. I suppose you could fill it in with some filler material to alleviate that problem. Otherwise, I would think the thing would work but since I haven't actually tried that change, my thinking ain't worth much. M1 stock on right, M1 trigger guard in middle, M2 trigger guard on left:
  5. The M1 barrel would fit a M2 receiver. There are slight differences between barrels and forearms but nothing that would keep it from functioning. There's a thread from a while back with pics. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/23393-M1-and-M2-Barrels
  6. Not to throw cold water here but the M2 stock doesn't fit the M1 receiver.
  7. 1. Sometimes, if you can find them. Benelli OEM (rare find, GunBroker, Numrich), Nordic Components (when they have them in stock). 2. Yes, you could buy a smoothbore barrel for that shotgun. (pricey). 3. Never seen such for a 20.
  8. Never felt the need nor have I ever actually had the need to do so in the 20+ years of owning M1/M2's. The lock washer and nut work just fine without any help.
  9. It wasn't meant for use with a standard sling. Look at the last post here: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/32048-Does-the-M3-standard-stock-fit-on-the-M4/page2 There are other slings that can be used with the attachment points but the original design with the older M1's were for use with the HK style 3-point. Apparently, they still like the original design.
  10. NP3 has the look of brushed stainless. Revolver is bead-blasted stainless and the semi is NP3:
  11. Depends on your definition of a good price. Midwest Gun Works lists both the 24 & 26 inch matte/vent rib in stock for $450.http://www.midwestgunworks.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=mgwi&Category_Code=benelli-m2-barrels&view_perpage=all I have a 26 inch M1, matte finish vent rib barrel I may be willing to part with. Just the barrel and the choke that's in it now. I got the gun used but never shot that barrel. Doesn't look like it was shot much before I got it. $300 shipped unless you're in Timbuktu or some other far-away costly shipping destination. PM me if interested.

    Shotgun Set-up

He used just about every Benelli there was at one time or another. Not sure that there was a 10 round OEM extension. He probably used an aftermarket for that. Barrel length? Probably 26 or 28. Don't know for sure. This is his table from 2003. It's a mix of M1, M3, SBE, Nova, and others. His fiber optic sights are EasyHit. They were sold on his website. Here, they're on a SBE2 in 2005. OEM mag extensions for the 20 ga. M1 show up on GunBroker now and then.
  13. Stock/receiver interface areas are not the same. M2 receiver is tapered and the trigger guard configuration is different.
  14. Unfortunately, the ComforTech stocks don't fit the M1's.
  15. I've got M1's with M1 barrel, M1 with M2 barrel, and M2 with M2 barrel. I shoot a ton of skeet and sporting clays and I haven't found any one of those combinations to be real-world better than the others for breaking clays. I've also used each configuration for pheasants in SD with no discernible difference in knocking them down. You might find a slight difference if you actually pattern them. But then again, you'll find differences in two versions of the same manufacturers barrel/choke combination. Personally, unless I was looking to change barrel length or just had a pocket full of cash that doesn't have anything else to do, there's not really a good reason to get another (expensive) barrel just so I could use the cryo chokes. Just pattern your M1's with different chokes and work with what you've got. To put a M2 barrel on a M1 receiver you only need a M2 forearm or you'd have to modify the M1 forearm.

    M2 Tactical price

Yes, that's pretty much the pre-nutso price.
  17. In addition to being a top shooter, he was an outstanding showman and a true gentleman. He always hung around to sign stuff for the kids and talk to the regular folks. I had the privilege of seeing him three years running at the local DU Greenwing Day festivities.
  18. It was originally designed to use the HK 3-point sling. The snap hook on the left was for use at the front and the bent plate on the right was designed to fit in the slot of the side mount on the stock.
  19. Tom Knapp routinely removed the handle from his M1/M2's when doing behind-the-back exhibition shots so it wouldn't contact his body when cycling. There's not really any difference in the bolts so I don't imagine it would hurt anything much. The question is, why would you want to shoot without it?
  20. Not sure what you mean by "stop plug/pin" or "could not get either to come out". There's only one pin holding the trigger group in and it comes completely out of the receiver. Once the pin is out, the trigger group can be pulled down and out of the receiver. If there's a lot of crud in there, it may take a little more effort to drop it down but it shouldn't be very difficult, regardless.
  21. Occasionally a wood stock/forearm set shows up on GunBroker and sometimes even here. Also check Numrich. They list wood stocks and forearms for the M1. Just keep Googling/looking. A set is bound to show up sometime. I don't know about the Morgan recoil pad question. Best advise: call Morgan and ask them.
  22. It should not have been that hard. Hope something isn't amiss.
  23. Yes, that would work and you can still use the older barrel without any issues. At least that's how it has worked for me.
  24. Not all M1's are the same: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/29184-Difference-between-early-and-later-m1-forends-Will-later-models-fir-HK-m1S90
  25. Yes, surprisingly enough, this has come up a time or twenty. Somebody needs to put a sticky on this. Loaded shotgun shell lengths are not consistent between manufacturers or even within a manufacturer's inventory. In others words: try a different brand. Try a couple of different brands. Maybe trim a couple of coils off the magazine spring, depending on how much farther that final shell need to go if you're in love with the ammo you've been trying. Also: do a search on the forum. This has been discussed at least 3 times in the last couple of months. Here's one to get you started: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/31663-Magazine-Capacity-Issue!?highlight=shell+length
