  1. SBS(Short Barrel Shotgun) - shoulder fired shotgun w/less than 18" barrel or OAL less than 26" - $200 transfer tax - - AOW(Any Other Weapon), including a smoothbore pistol, i.e., shotgun receiver originally manufactured as such rather than shoulder fired- $5.00 transfer tax or $200 if you manufacture one. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/identification-of-nfa-firearms.html Benelli M1/M2/M4 Entry are SBS, no way to make them an AOW since you'll never find one that wasn't originally manufactured as a shotgun. There are other considerations but these hit the high spots.
  2. A "fair" price would be around $850 to $900, depending on the condition. Then, of course, you'll have to pay a $200 transfer tax and wait up to 8 months for BATFE paperwork to go through.
  3. Doubt it. I don't think they make a 16 ga. anything. Haven't seen a new 16 ga. gun come out in a long time.
  4. Rifle sighted Benelli's are not readily or cheaply converted to ghost rings. The receiver would have to be drilled & tapped for the rear sight and you would either have to buy a new barrel with the GR front post or have one soldered on to the existing barrel. My opinion would be to go with what you got. You could always add a rail to the receiver and put a red-dot sight on it. Depends on what you're using the gun for.
  5. Read this: http://forum.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/32239-Tritiun-ghost-ring-inserts No, you can't just get "inserts". Hi-Viz makes a fiber optic front sight post replacement. I have one on one of my M1's but it's tiny and isn't all that noticeable when actually shooting. http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/sights/front-sights/benelli-shotgun-fiber-optic-front-sight-prod42499.aspx
  6. Front post held on by very small nut. Rear ring held in by adjustment screw. Probably no difference, maybe even made by the same folks.
  7. Measurements like depth of the cut down to the end of the recoil spring tube wouldn't be valid since the pic is of a M1 take-off that had been shortened by an unknown amount. Pic of front wouldn't correspond to your M2 since the stock/receiver interface is a different configuration than the M1. Seems like your M2 comfortech stock would be your best pattern for configuring the receiver end of the wooden stock, and the length of the recoil spring tube would determine your depth of the cut necessary for installing the drop lock plate in the rear.
  8. Factory wood is drilled for the recoil spring tube and the rear of the stock is milled/routed/cut to take the standard adjustment plates that correspond to the various shims.
  9. I had a number of guys over the years come in, hand me their M1 and say "it's broke, fix it". Each one had some variation of what you describe. My first question to them was always "you just cleaned it didn't you?" and the answer was always yes. I would remove the trigger group, inspect it for issues and then re-install it. Problem was always solved. I never really looked closely at what was going on and I've never been able to deliberately make mine do it but I never had the same person come back with the problem again.
  10. If you took the trigger group out of the receiver when you cleaned the bolt, make sure you re-installed it properly. If it's fixed when you hit the bolt release, it sounds like something ain't geein' and hawin' in the interface between the two. Sorry for using those highly technical terms there. Not trying to show off or anything.
  11. Unless you find them in stock somewhere else right away, I would suggest that you go ahead and backorder them from Brownells. That way, you're assured that when they get them in, you're on the list of future recipients. They may only get a few in at the time and they go out first to those "on the list". They don't charge your credit card until ready to ship and if you get some in the meantime you can always cancel the order. If you wait for them to show "in stock", you may be waiting a long time.
  12. Hip shooting?? Really?
  13. Stock retaining nut? Numrich shows them in stock.
  14. No http://www.trulockchokes.com/choke-identification-tool.php
  15. check your personal messages. I probably have what you're looking for. And don't be so impatient. Not everyone comes to the forum on an hourly basis.
  16. It really depends on what your endgame is. What purpose is such a sight in your personal requirements? I've got a 9 moa RMR on a M1 that I use for three gun. Ultimately I found that at the distances for shotgun targets prevalent at most matches it didn't give me any advantage over open sights. For longer range slug shots, a smaller dot would have been nice but I could still make the hits without any problem. I've pretty much stopped using it and have reverted to open sights. I've come to the conclusion that, except for a long-range slug shot, optics on a shotgun don't provide the same advantages they do on a rifle in terms of accuracy and speed. On other forums you'll find that there are promoters/detractors of each of the individual sights you mention. I'm a Trijicon fanboy so naturally, I'll say the RMR is the way to go for that type of sight. Next up the line would be a Aimpoint T1, 2 moa on a low Larue mount. Personally, that's as big as I would go on a M4. The M4 is bulky and heavy enough without adding a whole bunch of bulky, weighty other stuff on it. But all that's just me.
  17. The M1 stock should fit the SBE1. M2/SBE2 are not compatible with M1/SBE1. The newer receivers have a narrower taper above the trigger guard that the older ones don't have and the interface between the trigger guard and the stock are different.
  18. Never seen one.
  19. If you're at the point of forcing reassembly, STOP. Something up to that point hasn't been done right. Trying to force everything back together may probably cause further problems and even damage. A couple of other questions/issues already mentioned. More info needed.
  20. What M1S90 version do you have? How do you want it modified? Most everything that folks do to make their shotgun useable for 3-gun you can do yourself. Extended magazine. Yep. Shorter barrel, although not absolutely necessary, can be had, for a price. Larger bolt release button. Nice to have. Not mandatory. All the wiz-bang stuff, i.e., machined, lighter bolt, carrier modification, etc. are nice but not necessary. I've seen guys shoot 3-gun with their camo field guns and do just as well as some with all the mods. Also, take a look at Taran Tactical http://tarantacticalinnovations.com/ Wheaton http://www.wheatonarms.com/benelli-3-gun-package.html C-Rums http://www.c-rums.com/
  21. Brownell's. Numrich.
  22. Yep, they nest on the side to keep them out of the way. Got 'em on all 4 of my T1's now. One of those things that you say to yourself "why didn't I think of that?"
  23. I don't know of anyone who just supplies the modified carrier. Buy one from Brownell's http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/trigger-group-parts/carrier-parts/carriers/carrier-m1-prod6186.aspx?avs|Manufacturer_1=BENELLI and send it to: http://www.c-rums.com/Carriers.html
  24. In my experience, it's difficult to predict what a particular shotgun will do based on the experience of others. If you do a search on this forum you'll find varying experiences using a particular type of ammo in a particular type of shotgun. Just like differences in patterning between individual guns of the same make/model, operational reliability with particular ammunition is an individual trait as well. The best advise; buy a couple of boxes of the ammo and see how it works (or doesn't) in your gun. If it's GTG, then buy a bunch of it.
  25. Isn't the C-stock pad the same as the fixed pistol grip pad? If so, this might help: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/31598-Benelli-M4-Recoil-Pad Limbsaver for older M1/SBE may work.
