  1. Just shoot the reduced recoil 12 with 8 pellet loads. Much more availability on 12 bore defensive type loads. If you just can't handle the weight of a 12, then maybe a 20 would work better.
  2. Your suppossed to look at the target with a shotgun. If the gun fits you it will shoot where you look. This does not apply if you are shooting at relatively still target like a deer or a turkey's head with a tight choke. This is why I like the M4 for hunting. You can use the sights, or ignore them and shoot the shotgun like a shotgun for fast moving targets.
  3. Thanks for the update. I look forward to your next outing and report. +1 on a particular gun shooting well with a specific choke. Guns can be fickle.
  4. Hey, please post a full report on how that that choke does. I need a good choke for long range Buck and one for 50 yrd turkeys. I am using a Briley IM and it does ok, but I'm looking for better performance. I've got a flock of about 30 turkeys that come within 40-50yrds of my back door.
  5. Benelli's kick. The upside is the reliability, durability and the ease of cleaning. A beretta or Rem. ,Browning gas gun will kick less, but are a pain to clean and less reliable. You have to pick your poisen. Personally, I like the Cordoba with the long forcing cones and the longer chokes with the factory porting. The stock with the recoil chevrons and the rubber comb is really nice. I shot one Dove Hunting a few days ago that was a 12ga and it kicked like a gas gun. Best of both worlds. Not too long ago you had to have all that stuff done aftermarket and it was pricey and a pain. Now you just open your wallet and walk out with a gun that you could take right down to Argentina: hence the name.
  6. Kick-Eez is a maker of recoil pads. The Benelli come with a pad that I'm pretty sure is actually a Kick eez pad. The Trap Dude is just a thicker pad that they make for guys shooting max dram 1 1/4 oz. handicap "trap" or "pigeon" loads. They are pretty stout loads and will ring your bell in a light field gun.
  7. egunparts.com aka: Numrich Arms. They are about 850.00 bucks. Where did you find an M4 w/ the factory 14" bbl? Is the 14" factory barrel a fixed mod. choke like the true military barrel, or is it a cyl. bore?
  8. I'll sell you one for a 1000. New in box. I did open the box to make sure everything was correct. PM me if interested.
  9. I had a 1187 SP back in the early 90's that was a POS jammatic. I still think that the Rem. 870 Wingmaster is one of the classic shotguns of all time though. I won't buy one with a IL though.
  10. You would be surprised by the patterns you get with the soft lead pellets and a CYL choke. At 10m its gonna spread more than that. Try it out with those Winchester Mao-Mart OO buck loads.
  11. They did, just like the collapsible stocks, but they're not available now. Even though it is legal to put the full length tube on your gun. You just have to put a standard non PG stock on it when you put on the full length tube. That being said, there are a lot of people that have the full length tubes and the collapsible PG stocks on their M4's that bought them and put them on back when Benelli said it A OK IN THEIR CATALOG.
  12. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Well, I guess I'm an idiot then because I DO want the factory stuff. I guess because its hard to get and well, its OEM. The Socomguy Tube is t-ts though and I still might end up with one if nobody wants to trade a full length tube.
  13. Yeah, I don't want to sell it right now. I would trade it for a Full Length Benelli tube. I know that somebody out there like me probably has 3 of them and no M4 Factory Ext. and might want one to compliment their collection. If I'm going to sell it I need to find out what the Full length FACTORY Benelli tubes are going for vs. the Benelli Factory Ext.'s (I've never been interested in aftermarket stuff) I have 2 M4's and 3 Factory Ext. and 3 Collapsible Stocks. You could just buy them at any Benelli Dealer for awhile. Tha ATF apparently scared the **** outta Benelli and they stoped selling a LEGAL PRODUCT. Numrich Arms/eGUNPARTS needs to pull their head out of their A$$ as well. Having a 6/7 shot tube on your Benelli is NOT illegal. So, why don't they sell them to you and me? Because of a rogue bureaucracy that has waaaay too much unelected power and who basically makes the law up as they go along. Sorry, rant off.
  14. Well said. I think that SHOULD about wrap it up.
  15. +3 on a Burris Fastfire. Not as good as a Docter Optic, but it ain't 400 bucks either. It will mount on your pic rail and be unobtrusive .9 oz. and it has a 4moa dot (same as a Micro T-1 Aimpoint and smaller, but not near as rugged- your not going into combat though). Perfect for stationary turkey or deer from a stand.
  16. I am selling the 2 PG stocks that I have. These are unused and in excellent condition. 125.00 shipped for EACH, or 225.00 shipped for both. Shipped insured. I will also trade for a standard stock(s) (no pistol grip) for a M4.
  17. At close range nothing beats a CYL Choke. You WANT the shot to disburse a little. You might consider using soft lead Buck too- like the Wally World Winchester. The Hornady and premium Buck is going to shoot like a rifle at that distance. You can take some nail polish from your wife and seal the primer pocket on the el cheapo ammo. That is if you don't want to cycle your ammo every 3-6 months.
  18. OK, I measured the factory spring and it was like 27" and the Egunparts "Benelli" spring was 39" and I put it in- IT WAS A BEEOTCH! My M4 can now only hold 6 2.75" rounds. The stock spring works fine and I'm sending the Long Spring back to Numrich for a refund. I even left the spring compressed for 3 days with 6 shells in the mag and I can't get the 7th shell in the gun, no way, no how.
  19. Cowboys advice is good advice. This is your problem.
  20. Damn, I would go and buy it ALL for that price.
  21. I agree with Duggan on the Dewey rod for a shotgun with a chrome lined bore. It's just unnecessary-save your money for some extra chokes and some good ammo, or a Surefire light. The ext. just screws on the mag tube and you end up with the same thing functionally, but with one difference, you can tell its an ext. It's not going to come loose or anything like that because the threaded endcap on the mag tube prevents this. The ext I use is the factory one so I don't have to take it off, ever. The upside to an ext is you can config back to reg mag capacity for hunting, lets say. Although, I think Benelli sells the extended plugs for the long mag tubes.
  22. More drop will lower your pattern. More cast will move your pattern right.Cast Off is for most right handed people. Cast on is for lefties and cross dominant eyed folks, ie right handed, but left eye dominant. Here's what you do. Take your gun out to a pattern board. Usually a skeet, trap, or sporting clays range will have one, or use butcher paper, a big cardboard box, posterboard ect with an orange target dot. With both eyes open mount your gun quickly to your cheek and shoulder and fire. Do this about 10-15 times with a MOD choke at 25yrds. Be sure and start with the gun unmounted. Mount your gun and fire within a second or two like your going to shoot a bird. The gun should shoot where your looking if you mounted properly and the gun fits. If the gun shoots low, then you need a thinner shim. If your high, use a thicker shim. What most shooters want is a 60/40 pattern. Where 60% of your pattern is high and 40% is lower. Be sure with the locking plate (the part thats heavy and goes in the stock) to use the corresponding plate that matches the shim that you use: 55mm shim=55mm locking plate. I liked it when Benelli just used the A,B,C,D shims and plates. That was easier. An A was 50mm of drop, B was 55mm, C was 60mm, and D was 65mm. More, or less, than that and you had to inlet the stock. The shims are also either Cast On, or Cast Off 1/4", or so- not much adj here. Hope this helps.
  23. Lightweight= more recoil. The laws of physics definitely apply. A Montefeltro youth with a Kick eez Trap Dude would be a good choice. Or, your looking at a 28ga, or .410 O/U's and some reloading.
  24. Not many Franchi shotguns are out there, even new. They just don't sell that many. Still a left field oddball gun make in regards to the masses (benelli's USED to be in this category). They KNOW about Benelli though.
  25. I've been messing with other guns and working at the job thing. I still need to measure my stock 11707 mag spring against the so called long springs I got from Numrich. I have never had any issues with my stock Benelli 5 shot springs either. I'm sold on the longer spring idea though.
