  1. Congrats. I've got another one coming in in November. ordered one up for my cell mate.
  2. Looks pretty similar to the M4 in design. Have you tried pushing in hard? Or applied some oil? It looks like a ball detent in the bolt carrier retains the charging handle. If it is still a NO GO, then it is time to call Benelli.
  3. Love the machine work on those threads. Compare them to the factory tubes threads. Huge difference in quality.

  6. That is more like a copy of the GG&G handle. It is much larger than the Design Concepts model. What you need to find out is how much it weighs in grams. If it weighs more than 12.5 grams, FAIL. This is approximate stock weight. The Design Concepts model weighs in at 8.5 grams. The aluminum model has the potential to beat this weight listing; however I doubt it due to the larger size. Next concern will be the durability of the aluminum. You'll have to buy one to find out. Here are some reference photos to compare with. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2457/3706079753_42303b5ca6_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3502/3467762036_0c5e6cc8a6_b.jpg
  7. Photos snuggling with the Benelli please. Cant believe they let that rifle in commiefornia. What's funny is my I p h o n e recognized the word commiefornia.
  8. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2610/3988993659_71edbe8df8_b.jpg The same solution could be used with a Surefire X400 if you wanted a laser also. Momentary control over a weapon light is key to being successful.
  9. Mounting to the top rail will give you a lot of barrel shadow. Plus, how do you intend to activate it? I struggled with this issue for years. I avoided all products because of major failures I found in most designs. Here is what I ended up with: Activation The rubber grip slips back over this. Momentary light control via the right hand. Similar activation control as a CTC laser grip. The Light Surefire Scout Light on a LaRue mount. Attached via a Sidearmor top rail.
  10. The 11707 will be listed on the bar code on the box. Sounds like that is what you have. The m1014 and the 11703 do not have the groove machined into the receiver extension. Only the 11707 and 11717 do. The 11717 is the tan version. M1014 has a fixed improved modified choke. While all later versions are interchangable. The m1014 has an American flag stamped into the receiver on the right side. M1014's came with the two port barrel. The 11703's were shipped with the 4 port barrels. 11707's and 11717's have the two port barrels again. Minor upgrades have been implimented. Such as the oversized wing at the rear of the barrel assembly and the portion of the barrel that seats against the receiver on newer models has a shelf or a ridge that has a larger bearing surface between the two parts. All model's parts should be mostly interchangable with each other. Example, Benelli put a 11707 barrel in my 11703 model when I kept breaking it.
  11. The best part is you're in californiastan with that!
  12. Seek job opportunities first. Decide what climate you want. No snow. Loads of snow. No rain. Lots of rain. Desert adventure. Forest adventure. Arizona, Texas, Utah, Idaho and Montana would be my choice. Not to name names, but certain areas require you to adhere to certain religious groups or expect to be treated like an outsider and have limited job opportunities. Anywhere is better than California - The Bankrupt State.
  13. It may fit. Given that they swapped my 11703 barrel for a 11707 profile without modification to my receiver.
  14. The Glock safety issues is skewed due to the fact that they have a very large market share. Chances of accidents go up as a result. I like the grip angle of the XD better. I like the grip safety because it helps prevent an AD during a fumble. Go with what you can control and aim well. Yesterday I was out in the desert and we had a swarm of tarantula hawks swarm us. They're pretty aggressive. All black with bright red wings. Imagine a wasp on steroids. I waited for it to land on a nearby bush and blasted him with a 147gn hollow point from 7 to 10 feet. Benelli would have been better, but it worked.
  15. Quite a few changes were done to the barrel between the models. There is now a lug that seats against the receiver. The very rear of the barrel has an oversized flare on the 11707. The rest appears to be the same. Receivers before the m1014 were slightly different around the elevator.
  16. New carry package. Springfield Armory XDm 9mm, Surefire X400 Weapon Light/Laser with a remote momentary switch. Raven Concealment Holster. Dual magazine pouch with a custom light carrier for my Surefire LX2. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3514/4010840356_9f3d508009_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2496/4010839240_47367b7e22_b.jpg
  17. I had a 552 on mine years ago. It was too big and heavy. I recently added an Aimpoint T-1 on a low Larue mount. Significantly better optic in every way.
  18. I'd opt for an Italian girl like Monica Bellucci, but your bull dog is nice too.
  19. I'd consider waiting for Mesa's offering. You'll get a compliance part, a better LOP and some additional sling mount options. A better recoil pad too.
  20. Hookster, Check eBay for them. I got mine for 160 shipped. Mine is at Malabar having a Kydex holster made for it. Horizontal pouch, tail cap up/out towards the front carried at the 10 o'clock position. Should be here this coming week. Yay!
  21. There is nothing about a dedicated light system in my 2009 catalogs. They usually display upcoming releases for the year to come. If they do have plans, it will be at least a year away. Hopefully they offer a lamp with more than 80 lumens. The next big wave of weapon lights will be built on the 200 lumen output LED's like the new hand held LX2 has (it's awesome). Surefire has a 3 cell hand held coming out in December that is 350 lumens. The Surefire m80 doesn't make for a good mounting place for a weapon light. The light itself crowds your hand. It does make for a good compliance part though. Or a good place to mount a tape switch to.
  22. Very sorry to hear. What size shell carrier were you using? Brownells sells the screws and lock washers I believe. They are not cheap. If the threads are stripped, those screws are useless. You'll need to see a gunsmith and have the receiver threaded for a larger screw. I would get rid of the Mesa carrier honestly.
  23. I think Optics Planet sells the LRP mount. I liked the T-1 to hit it two times from LaRue. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2610/3988993659_71edbe8df8_b.jpg
  24. Back in 2005 or 2006 I worked with Mitch over at Mesa Tactical. I pitched the idea and he liked it. So we collaborated on the design. I had some of the early prototype stuff to test the mounting system. Unfortunately, Benelli changed some things around the barrel between model productions and our original model was off. They mainly added that shelf to the base of the barrel that seats against the receiver. The original FCAM attached like the SideArmor does via the five top rail holes. Then a handguard portion slid into the top cover and engaged where the factory handguards seat (into the metal bracket retained by the magazine tube). The front of the handguard seated indexed with the forward handguard mount as the barrel was seated. The lock up was very solid and provided a tool-less disassembly. Overall concerns were always about weight, strength, ergonomics and providing an option that couldn't be achieved by other means at the time. I would advise that a more valuable product would be to simply produce a similar replacement handguard that is made in the USA that has a low profile pocket for tape switches. This would sell big because it would be a compliance part and have some added functionality over the factory handguards as well. Big full length top rails really aren't needed. They're simply extra weight. The only value on the Sidearmor is it acts as a bridge over to the side rails. Here is a thread about the FCAM over at Mesa's website with some really early prototype photos. http://www.mesatactical.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=41 Seems they're renewing interest in the project with some injection molding rather than aluminum extrusions.
