  1. Just now updated within the past 10 minutes, you snooze, you lose - http://geissele.com/benelli-m4-super-90-hammer.html
  2. It's just as it should be outta the box, 'cept for needing a FL mag tube. Neutering it with a five round mag is an abomination and strictly a feel good measure since we have a number of ways of working around that now, 'legally'. Like the hotrodders say, "There's no replacement for displacement." (all things being equal) Those two extra rounds could make all the difference in seeing the sun come up again - FTW!
  3. Yeah, if you're gonna be out in very cold temperatures for an extended period of time protecting your hands and keeping your fingers able to function becomes one of your highest priorities. Good point on the operational type mittens, I think I've seen those in the US Cavalry catalog, or somewhere like that.
  4. I've been in a storm where running very low on ammo became a problem that required immediate action and that resulted in a tactical disadvantage I had to adapt to. Therefore in the future I plan on carrying as much ammo on me as practical. Two bandoleers seems about right, however I'm very much in my happy zone with four. lol If you know of any 'tactical shotgun vest'* which will comfortably accommodate at least 3-4 dozen rounds of shotgun ammo I'm all ears. *It takes precious moments to suit up in a vest should the need arise when one can simply grab a bandoleer or three on the fly
  5. I've got a couple of those AIM bandoleers. I'm not at all impressed with 'em. The Urban E.R.T. bandoleers are pricey but worth it imo. Always check the elastic and never a good idea to subject that elastic to excessive heat (like in a car in the summertime) - loaded or unloaded (the elastic that is). If you just have to expose the elastic to anything above room temperatures very much expect to replace any such bandoleer periodically as the elastic WILL become stretched out and not recover (from my own experience).
  6. Good point. No, it's not always warm here, been below freezing for hours/days at a time recently. What sort of gloves do you use in cold weather? (I've been wanting some Oakley tactical gloves, just haven't sprung for 'em yet, lately been using some el cheapo polyurethane coated mechanic type gloves) Under such circumstances I would suggest adaptation, which can mean whatever you can come up with. Easy enough to make the distinction between slugs vs. shot loads however if you have a variety of shot loads then it would seem one would need to have some sort of aid to help make the distinction or else make it all one single type of buckshot along with the slugs. I'm thinking something inserted between the elastic and the shotshell, e.g. matchsticks, tabs of fabric, small plastic tubing, attach small safety pins (or whatever suits ya) could help one ID the rounds. Also the positioning on the bandoleer comes into play, possibly separating various shot rounds with slugs in between.
  7. Not so much inflation as supply and demand. Price has gone accordingly with supply vs. demand - 2-3 years ago one supplier somehow got 'several' of the verboten OEM c-stocks and had them listed for $225 on their website. Those very quickly sold out of course however in the meantime the going rate also came down to ~$300. Prior to that 4-5 years ago the OEM c-stocks were routinely selling for north of $800 on gunjoker. The prices for the c-stocks have slowly come back up to the $500+ range since the 'bargain' price of $225.
  8. I got a Ti tube from Kip but didn't have to wait an incredibly long time to get, only a moderately long time (like
  9. Apparently the SLP is now being shipped with only one 'improved' piston, reliability with light loads sucks with that one from what I gather.
  10. The thing is, without that retaining pin the c-stock will NOT work, it will fully collapse on every shot.
  11. 10 months!?!?!? That essentially means 'unavailable' - indefinitely.

    FNH SLP vs M4

One FN SLP owner's nightmare episode (it appears FN is only furnishing ONE 'improved' piston now) - http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=181004

    FNH SLP vs M4

Besides what's already been posted, the SLP comes with two gas pistons (one for lighter power loads and one for higher power loads) which you need to change according to the loads you're shooting - pretty inconvenient and possibly downright disappointing when in a bind.
  14. That's exactly what I've been looking for...where can I get that setup??
  15. Very nice lineup. It's worth noting that lever action rifles make fine 'aggie assault rifles' since one can keep the tube magazines topped off while shooting and scooting (however one drawback is that if the mag tube gets dented you may have problems). And on another note, there's no way in the world that the S-12 comes close to the sweet ergonomics of modern weapons such as the M4, SCAR, etc. in particular with respect to FAST mag changes. IMHO, the S-12 is perfectly suited for two scenarios - as an ambush gun in a fixed, barricaded position, or as an integral part of a fire team with adequate numbers (of course all armed with modern semi-auto rifles which accommodate fast mag changes) - and that's about it. Although the S-12 with a 20 round drum is a LOT of firepower it is just not well suited for fire and maneuver tactics from a stand alone perspective. Again, jmo.
  16. Viewing things strictly from a tactical perspective based upon my own RW experience (justified shooting with a five round pump, and I can tell you from my own personal first hand experience it's the worst feeling in the world to be down to 1 or 2 rounds when the fight is still ongoing, therefore I now place a very high priority on having a topped off mag and extra ammo at hand) along with hanging out for several years with those who carry a gun for a living (seasoned patrol officers, SWAT, gov's security detail) a detachable mag fed shotty is at a disadvantage to a tube fed mag shotty, even if limited to five rounds. The reason being is that with practical tactical shotgun use in a social situation one is generally in much closer proxmity to the bad guy(s). I can't think of a single 'stand alone' tactical scenario (meaning you're completely on your own with no help coming anytime soon) where a detachable mag shotgun would be preferable to tube mag shotgun. For one thing, who is able to maintain a count of their shots under stressfire?? Just not gonna happen, I don't care how much training one has had. In a tactical situation one MUST be firing and maneuvering, and while on the move one should be topping off one's tube mag. Not practical to top off a detachable mag, have to wait for the appropriate time to change to a fresh mag - way too many uncertainties with that. What if one has a face to face shootout with multiple assailants at 7 yards (the average distance in social situations) and one only has 1 or 2 rounds left in one's detachable magazine since one hasn't been able to keep topping it off like one could with a standard tube mag? Oops. And additionally, where do you carry all those HUGE spare shotgun mags?? One bandolier = 50 rounds of shotgun ammo, to match that one would need FIVE 10 round mags or TWO 20 round drums (if one has a 3rd 20 round drum in their S-12). Also, there's only one shotgun with a detachable magazine worth considering and that's the Saiga 12 - although a respectable, reliable shotgun definitely NOT the optimum profile of a tactical shotgun for shoot and scoot in CQB/social situations. Saiga 12 with ten round mag - Of course JMO, YMMV.
  17. Expect that, everything is as it should be on your M4 from your description.
  18. I put a M1014 barrel on my M4 and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary regarding the M4 handguards going back on.
  19. Fixed choke is a matter of preference, I prefer the fixed choke, one less thing to go wrong. Some folks put a premium on the M1014, I see it as just another M4 although the c-stock does add to the value even though it doesn't retract with the existing recoil tube/receiver extension. IMO $2k is reasonable for a 'like new' M1014 although I'd offer less. I acquired one showing some use so I didn't (and wouldn't) pay a premium for a M1014 simply because it's billed as 'xxx of 2500' and has a flag on the receiver.
  20. No, you're a complete moron who doesn't comprehend sound tactics. If you wanna play games to see how fast you can empty a mag get a Saiga 12 or a FN SLP.
  21. Date code on the 121/SL80 is found on the barrel, the two letters are framed by a small box.
  22. The only aftermarket stocks that fit the SL80, 121, and 121M1 are a couple of Choate Machine and Tool stocks, one a standard field stock and the other a PG stock. I've had both (Choate mistakenly shipped a PG stock when I ordered a standard stock) and be advised that either Choate stock adds considerable weight to the 121M1 over the OEM wood stock and that substantial extra mass may affect the function since the 121M1 is inertia operated. As for availability you would have to check with Choate Machine and Tool, however when I ordered mine 4-5 years ago I talked to the owner and he indicated that what he had in inventory was all he was ever going to have since it costs him tens of thousands to make a production run and demand for that item has dropped to near zero.
